World Humanitarian Day (WHD) on August 19 is an annual opportunity to commemorate humanitarian workers who have been killed in the course of their work, and to honour those who continue to take risks every day to provide life-saving aid to those who need it.
Every day, tens of thousands of humanitarian workers stand on the front lines of war and disaster, braving dangers and difficulties to deliver assistance to people in crises.
Save the Children Philippines as a child-rights based development and humanitarian organization will be participating in today’s celebration of World Humanitarian Day. Whenever a disasters strike, it takes a heavy toll on children’s lives, particularly those in deprived and marginalized situations and we ensure that children and their families are given care and emotional support to survive, recover, and continue to learn and live normal lives.
Save the Children Philippines advocated the passage of Republic Act 10821 or the Children’s Emergency Relief and Protection Act that directs national and local government agencies to implement and sustain comprehensive emergency program to protect children from disasters and emergencies.
