GROWING KIDS – Why keep a medicine cabinet well stocked ?
We may not like it, but we have to face it—health problems are a part of life. At one time or another, we’ve all sustained minor cuts or wounds, and we’ve all come down with common ailments like cold, fever and flu.
Prepare your family against such problems by stocking up your medicine cabinet with first-aid items and medicines listed below.
Be sure to check the contents every month or so to know what needs to be disposed of (expired or damaged items) and what needs to be replenished (rubbing alcohol, over-the-counter medicines, and others).
What should be inside the medicine cabinet:
Adhesive bandages, like Band-Aid
Pain reliever, such as analgesics
Fever reducer, such as ibuprofen
Antacids for upset stomachs
Antihistamines for allergy symptoms
Mentholated chest rub
Antiseptic, such as Betadine
Ice bag for fever
Hydrocortisone for skin inflammation and itching
